Sharjah Airport recorded strong operational growth in the third quarter of 2025, welcoming 5.13 million passengers, a 16.7 percent increase compared to the 4.39 million passengers handled during the same period in 2024. The total number of scheduled and non-scheduled flights reached 30,737, reflecting a 10.7 percent annual rise from 27,758 flights a year earlier.
Cargo operations also expanded, with 48,073 tons handled in Q3 — up 3.9 percent from 46,284 tons last year. Sea-air freight registered a notable 32.8 percent increase, climbing from 3,236 tons to 4,296 tons, underscoring the airport’s growing role in integrated logistics. His Excellency Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of the Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA), said the results highlight the airport’s continued operational momentum and its strategic role in advancing the emirate’s long-term development goals.
He attributed the strong performance to ongoing investments in infrastructure, capacity expansion, and digital transformation, aimed at enhancing efficiency and passenger experience. Sharjah Airport is implementing an ambitious growth strategy focused on expanding its destination network, upgrading cargo and logistics facilities, and integrating innovative digital solutions to ensure a seamless travel experience.
Strong Performance in H1 2025
In the first half of 2025, Sharjah Airport handled 9.11 million passengers, marking a 10 percent year-on-year increase from 8.31 million in 2024. Aircraft movements rose 4.3 percent to 54,953, while cargo volumes reached 102,427 tons, up 6.36 percent.
Al Midfa reaffirmed that these results stem from sustained collaboration with strategic partners and continuous investment in modern facilities. He added that the airport aims to rank among the top five airports in the region, with expansion projects expected to raise capacity to 25 million passengers annually by 2027.
