The Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) has issued its climate outlook for January 2026, providing detailed insight into expected weather patterns and historical temperature records for the month.
As the second month of the winter season, January is typically Qatar’s coldest period of the year. QMD noted that cold fronts are expected to occur more frequently, often driven by low-pressure systems that may bring occasional thunderstorms across different regions.
The Department added that rainfall is most probable during the second week of January, in line with past weather trends. It also observed that fog formation tends to increase during the first half of the month, particularly during early morning hours.
For January 2026, the mean daily temperature is forecast to hover around 17.7°C. Climate records show the lowest temperature ever recorded in the month was 3.8°C in 1964, while the highest reached 32.4°C in 2015.
