The United Arab Emirates has introduced new consular services for Golden Visa holders to provide assistance during emergencies abroad, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) announced on Tuesday.
The initiative includes a dedicated 24-hour hotline for Golden Visa holders, ensuring they are included in the UAE’s emergency and evacuation plans during crises. The service aims to coordinate with relevant authorities to deliver care and support under exceptional circumstances.
In cases of death abroad, MoFA will also facilitate repatriation and burial procedures for Golden Visa holders. Families will be able to complete formalities through streamlined consular and procedural steps, receiving direct assistance from UAE officials.
Golden Visa holders can now contact MoFA’s Call Centre directly at +971 2 493 1133, available around the clock.
Additionally, the ministry has launched a service for Golden Visa holders who lose or damage their passports while overseas. Eligible expats will be able to obtain an electronic Return Document through the ministry’s website, allowing them to travel back to the UAE without delay.
Introduced in 2019, the Golden Visa program offers long-term residency to foreign investors, entrepreneurs, scientists, outstanding students, frontline heroes, and skilled professionals, allowing them to live, work, and study in the UAE without a local sponsor.
The visa’s eligibility has expanded in recent years. Dubai now grants Golden Visas to exceptional gamers, content creators, and top-performing students, while Ras Al Khaimah offers the permit to outstanding teachers. Earlier this year, Abu Dhabi announced eligibility for superyacht owners.
Applications for the Golden Visa can be submitted through the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security (ICP) or the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, either online or at designated service centers.
