e financing structure would help the group meet future aircraft funding requirements efficiently and competitively as it continues to develop its fleet and network.
JLPS Expects Long-Term Partnership
Teiji Ishikawa, President and Chief Executive Officer of JLPS, said Japanese investors place significant emphasis on an airline’s creditworthiness when assessing aircraft financing opportunities.
He described Qatar Airways as a strong credit and said the Japanese investment community had welcomed the transaction. Ishikawa added that JLPS was pleased to arrange the equity for the airline’s first JOLCO deal.
He said the agreement should be viewed as the beginning of a longer-term programme rather than an isolated transaction, with JLPS intending to continue supporting Qatar Airways in Japan in the years ahead.
HSBC Highlights Financing Expertise
Abdul Hakeem Mostafawi, Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Qatar, said the transaction builds on the bank’s longstanding strategic relationship with Qatar Airways Group.
He said HSBC’s role as debt arranger and sole lender demonstrates its ability to develop tailored financing solutions that support fleet expansion, diversify funding sources and connect major airlines with international capital markets.
As Qatar Airways Group continues to expand its fleet and network, the Japanese JOLCO programme is expected to support its broader strategy of building lasting relationships with financial institutions and investors in Japan and other markets.
