Zayed International Airport (AUH) has welcomed the launch of Condor’s new daily, year-round flights between Berlin and Abu Dhabi, strengthening air links between Germany and the United Arab Emirates.
The service is operated by an Airbus A320neo and represents the first scheduled nonstop connection between the two capitals on Condor’s network.
Through its codeshare partnership with Etihad Airways, the route offers passengers travelling from Berlin onward connections to destinations across Etihad’s network. Travellers departing Abu Dhabi can also access Condor’s wider network through Berlin.
The new service is expected to support Abu Dhabi’s tourism sector by making the emirate’s cultural and leisure attractions more accessible to visitors from Germany. It is also intended to facilitate travel, business and trade between the two cities.
Carsten Nørland, chief commercial officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, said the daily service would strengthen direct connectivity between two internationally connected capitals.
He added that cooperation between Condor and Etihad would expand links between Abu Dhabi, Berlin and destinations beyond, creating further opportunities for tourism, business and trade while supporting the emirate’s position as a global destination.
Haitham Ali Khamis, acting director of tourism products development at the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, described the direct service as an important step in expanding the emirate’s presence in the German market.
He said Germany had consistently been a valuable source of visitors and that improved air access could introduce more travellers to Abu Dhabi’s attractions and experiences.
Dr Pierre Dominique Prümm, chief commercial officer at Condor Airlines, said the partnership with Etihad would provide passengers with direct access to Abu Dhabi and onward connections to destinations across Asia, Australia and Africa. He said combining the airlines’ networks would offer more options for both leisure and business travellers.
Lena Havia, Etihad Airways’ vice president of alliances and joint ventures, said the cooperation would give passengers in Berlin daily, year-round access to Abu Dhabi, alongside onward connections throughout Etihad’s network. She added that the route would strengthen the airline’s offering in Germany.
The launch adds to Etihad’s existing operations in Germany, where the airline already operates 35 flights a week, including services linking Frankfurt and Abu Dhabi. Further weekly services are planned as the partnership develops.
