Fifa’s Mountain Vistas Create New Opportunities for Tourism Investment

Fifa Governorate in Saudi Arabia’s Jazan Region is emerging as a promising destination for tourism investment, with its mountainous terrain offering a distinctive setting for hospitality and recreational development.

Villages and agricultural terraces are spread across slopes reaching around 2,000 metres above sea level, while views extend across mountain peaks and valleys. The landscape takes on different character depending on weather conditions, with fog, rainfall and clear skies creating changing scenic experiences.

Tourism developments in Fifa are being designed to work with the area’s steep terrain and varying elevations. Hospitality and seating areas are positioned to overlook villages, agricultural terraces and mountain peaks, making the surrounding landscape an integral part of the visitor experience.

Al-Khatm Viewpoint provides an example of this approach. The mountain destination features hospitality and seating facilities arranged across multiple levels, offering views of nearby villages and mountain ranges. Facilities include seating areas, traditional guest lounges, cafes, restaurants and cabins, along with food preparation and barbecue areas, event spaces and children’s play areas.

Elements of local heritage have also been incorporated into parts of the site. Traditional artefacts, products made by productive families and a Saudi coffee corner highlight the agricultural and cultural traditions associated with the region’s mountain communities.

Fifa’s mountain scenery and developing tourism facilities provide opportunities to create experiences that combine hospitality, recreation and appreciation of local heritage, strengthening the governorate’s position among Jazan Region’s emerging mountain destinations.

Wadi Dhahaya Attracts Tourists to Jazan’s Scenic Mountain Landscapes

Located about 80 kilometers from Jizan city, Wadi Dhahaya in the Balghazi Mountains of Al-Aydabi Governorate is emerging as a notable destination for rural tourism, known for its agricultural terraces, seasonal waterfalls and rich plant life.

The valley stretches through rugged mountain terrain, surrounded by green terraces, traditional stone-built settlements and streams that flow seasonally. During periods of rainfall, water cascading down the slopes combines with mist-covered peaks and terraced hills to create striking landscapes that attract eco-tourists and photographers.

The centuries-old agricultural terraces also reflect the traditional farming practices of local mountain communities. Farmers carved productive plots into steep slopes, creating cultivable land across otherwise challenging terrain.

Wadi Dhahaya is also an important habitat for wild Dhahyan trees, which support the production of the region’s prized Dhahyan honey. Sidr, acacia and juniper trees are also found throughout the area.

The combination of natural scenery, access to local beekeeping activities and the region’s agricultural heritage is helping strengthen Wadi Dhahaya’s potential as an agrotourism destination while supporting the wider development of rural tourism in the area.
