Air Arabia, the Middle East and North Africa’s largest low-cost carrier, has received its first Airbus A320neo aircraft from an order of 120 A320 Family jets placed with Airbus in 2019, marking a major milestone in its fleet expansion strategy.
The aircraft was welcomed at Sharjah International Airport with a ceremony attended by Sheikh Abdullah Bin Mohammad Al Thani, Chairman of Air Arabia; HE Sheikh Khalid Bin Issam Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation; HE Ali Salim Al Midfa, Chairman of Sharjah Airport Authority; and Adel Al Ali, Group CEO of Air Arabia, along with senior officials.
The A320neo joins Air Arabia’s existing fleet of 83 Airbus A320 Family aircraft, initiating a new phase of deliveries that will see 73 A320neo, 27 A321neo, and 20 A321XLR aircraft added to its operations across multiple hubs, including Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Ras Al Khaimah, Morocco, Egypt, and Pakistan.

Powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines and equipped with Airbus Sharklets, the A320neo offers up to 20% lower fuel burn and CO₂ emissions. The aircraft features 174 economy seats with one of the most generous seat pitches in its class, and includes Air Arabia’s “SkyTime” in-flight streaming service and “SkyCafe” menu.
The new aircraft will enter commercial service on October 1, 2025,operating the Sharjah–Bangkok route. Additional deliveries are scheduled later this year as part of the airline’s long-term expansion and sustainability plans.
