Qatar Airways has inked a landmark Standard Ground Handling Agreement (SGHA) with Saudi Ground Services (SGS), marking a significant step in strengthening aviation ties between Qatar and Saudi Arabia. The new accord aims to enhance the efficiency and reliability of ground operations at major airports across the Kingdom.
Under the terms of the agreement, SGS will deliver comprehensive ground handling support for Qatar Airways flights in Saudi Arabia, including baggage management, passenger assistance, aircraft ramp operations, and cargo handling. The collaboration is designed to streamline airport processes, reduce turnaround times, and elevate service standards for passengers traveling between Doha and key Saudi destinations such as Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, and Medina.
Qatar Airways described the deal as part of its ongoing drive for operational excellence and regional growth, emphasizing that the partnership will foster smoother travel experiences while contributing to the Gulf’s expanding aviation infrastructure amid surging demand.
Saudi Ground Services, a leading airport services provider and a publicly listed company on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul), welcomed the agreement as a milestone in broadening strategic partnerships with global carriers. The company highlighted that the initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy, which aims to diversify and modernize the nation’s transport sector.
With both carriers expanding regional flight frequencies in 2025, the agreement underscores the growing momentum in Gulf aviation collaboration—reinforcing operational synergies that advance safety, service quality, and connectivity across the region.
