Kuwait Airways and the Arab Open University (AOU) in Kuwait have signed a joint cooperation protocol to enhance strategic collaboration between the national carrier and one of the country’s leading educational institutions. The agreement aims to strengthen bilateral relations, exchange expertise, and support the development of Kuwait’s educational and aviation sectors.
The signing ceremony was attended by Kuwait Airways Chairman Captain Abdulmohsen Salem Al-Fagaan and AOU Director Dr. Salah Saleh Al-Hammadi, alongside senior officials from both organizations.
According to the agreement, both parties will work together to boost operational efficiency, expand service offerings, and promote the exchange of expertise in fields such as communications, public relations, academic research, and technology. The protocol also seeks to foster collaboration on sustainability initiatives, including carbon reduction and green tourism.
Captain Al-Fagaan described the partnership as part of Kuwait Airways’ ongoing efforts to “build and reinforce bridges of cooperation” that contribute to advancing the country’s educational system. He noted that the collaboration includes sponsoring university events, implementing training and volunteer programs, and offering specialized courses for airline staff in management, IT, digital transformation, communication, and leadership.
“This agreement strengthens our institutional ties with a distinguished academic partner and enhances Kuwait Airways’ presence within the youth and academic communities,” Al-Fagaan said, praising AOU’s role in “developing future generations” and reaffirming the airline’s commitment to supporting Kuwaiti youth.
AOU Director Dr. Al-Hammadi hailed the agreement as a “strategic step towards deepening the partnership between higher education and the national air transport sector,” emphasizing the university’s dedication to empowering national talent and aligning academic programs with labor market needs. He added that the collaboration will offer AOU students valuable hands-on experience through internships and training at Kuwait Airways.
Dr. Afnan Al-Khaldi, AOU’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Scientific Research, also welcomed the initiative, describing it as a key component of the university’s strategy to build effective partnerships with both public and private institutions to enhance students’ employability.
The new cooperation protocol marks another milestone in Kuwait Airways’ broader strategy of forming partnerships that contribute to national development and institutional excellence.
