Wizz Air is introducing a new premium “no neighbour” seating option that lets passengers block middle seats in the first rows, offering more elbow room and a quicker exit on arrival.
The upgrade, which also bundles priority boarding, a carry-on allowance and guaranteed overhead bin space, marks the budget airline’s latest move to attract travelers willing to pay extra for comfort without abandoning low fares.
Fares for the option have not been confirmed. Michael Delehant, Wizz Air’s Senior Chief Commercial & Operations Officer, said the price will be set below the cost of buying an additional seat and is “not meant to be a money-grab.”
The product is aimed squarely at time-pressed business travelers and value-seekers who want more space and predictability. “This service targets customers seeking more space, comfort and a quicker exit from the aircraft,” said Wizz Air Commercial Officer Silvia Mosquera, noting growing demand for low-cost options with premium touches.
The airline is also preparing a digital refresh under the “Wizz Play” brand, introducing onboard Wi‑Fi and a new infotainment system on select flights an upgrade that could widen ancillary revenue opportunities while improving the onboard experience.
Wizz Air’s move mirrors a broader recalibration among low-cost carriers as they blend efficiency with tiered perks. In the United States, debates over seating policies continue to swirl, JetBlue has leaned into its “EvenMore” program, and Virgin Australia has launched neighbour-free seating across domestic and short-haul international routes.
Start-up Magnifica Air, meanwhile, is pitching private jet-style service at scheduled fares by 2027, underscoring how the line between budget and premium is being redrawn.
By offering extra space without a full fare class overhaul, Wizz Air is betting that small, tangible comforts—clear bins, early boarding, and a guaranteed empty seat beside you—will resonate with travelers who want more control over their journey at a modest premium.
