Etihad Airways has begun direct flights from Abu Dhabi to Madinah, further strengthening its presence in Saudi Arabia and expanding travel options for passengers across multiple segments — from religious and leisure to business travel.
The new route reconnects Abu Dhabi with one of the world’s most sacred cities, supporting growing demand from pilgrims and global travellers seeking seamless access to the Kingdom’s holy destinations.
With the launch of Madinah flights, Etihad now operates 93 weekly flights to five Saudi cities — four times daily to Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam, three weekly services to Al Qassim, and the new route to Madinah. The expansion forms part of Etihad’s broader growth plan, which includes 31 new destinations announced within a year.
Etihad Airways CEO Antonoaldo Neves said the launch underscores the airline’s commitment to deepening ties with Saudi Arabia: “Madinah carries profound cultural and spiritual significance for millions, and we are honoured to provide convenient travel through Abu Dhabi to this important city.”
Passengers connecting through Zayed International Airport can enjoy Etihad’s complimentary Abu Dhabi Stopover, offering two free hotel nights, giving travellers a chance to explore the UAE capital’s mix of culture, architecture, and entertainment — from the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque to attractions on Yas Island and Saadiyat Island.
The new Madinah service also enhances connectivity from the Kingdom to Etihad’s expanding global network across Asia, Australia, and Europe, reaffirming Abu Dhabi’s role as a major aviation hub linking East and West.
