When the Dubai Airshow 2025 opens on November 17, the spotlight won’t only be on cutting-edge aircraft and billion-dollar aviation deals. Behind the scenes, Emirates Flight Catering (EKFC) will be leading a massive culinary mission — preparing and serving more than 300,000 meals to visitors, exhibitors, and dignitaries from 98 countries.
As the official caterer of the Airshow, EKFC has built two fully equipped central kitchens on-site, employing 2,600 staff members to serve over 150 chalets, pavilions, and exhibition stands. From French and Japanese dishes to authentic Middle Eastern flavors, the operation is designed to reflect Dubai’s global diversity and hospitality excellence.
“Our goal is to show what’s possible when airline catering expertise meets large-scale event execution,” said Shahreyar Nawabi, CEO of Emirates Flight Catering. “We’re delivering authentic cuisine from nearly 100 countries, prepared by a team that understands both recipes and cultural preferences.”
The operation began in late October, with two central kitchens constructed in just two weeks. Each facility includes cold rooms, dishwashing zones, storage, and power systems, ensuring full independence and flexibility. A dry run will be conducted before the event to guarantee smooth delivery across the sprawling Airshow site.
To meet real-time dining needs, EKFC will offer on-demand catering and collaborate with premium brands such as Origami, Onda, Dibba Oyster Bar, Bustanica Salad Bar, and Yann Couvreur Pastry & Barista Experience. Emirates Leisure Retail will also run Costa Coffee outlets and a food truck village in the SkyView area.
In addition to culinary excellence, sustainability is a major focus. EKFC has eliminated plastic bottles, introduced recycling systems, and partnered with Dubai Municipality to donate or compost leftover food.
The company has also recruited 74 interns, including UAE Nationals, from global hospitality institutions like EHL Lausanne, GLION Switzerland, and Les Roches Abu Dhabi, giving them hands-on experience in catering, finance, and operations.
From building kitchens to managing waste and serving meals with precision, Emirates Flight Catering is turning the Dubai Airshow into not just an aviation event — but a celebration of global hospitality, efficiency, and sustainability.
