Qatar Airways has crossed a major technological milestone, becoming the first airline to equip more than 100 widebody aircraft with Starlink’s high-speed satellite Wi-Fi. The achievement marks one of the fastest rollout programmes in commercial aviation, delivered ahead of schedule to give passengers access to faster connectivity sooner than planned.
Over half of the airline’s widebody fleet is now Starlink-enabled. Since the first aircraft went live in October 2024, Qatar Airways has operated more than 30,000 flights with uninterrupted, gate-to-gate, ultra-fast Wi-Fi — speeds often surpassing home internet connections. The World’s Best Airline (Skytrax 2025) now operates around 200 Starlink-connected flights daily.
Qatar Airways Group CEO Engineer Badr Mohammed Al Meer said the rapid rollout reflects the airline’s commitment to action over promises. “Equipping over 100 widebody aircraft since our first Starlink flight shows our priority: delivering the best travel experience now, not later,” he said.
The airline has already completed its Boeing 777 Starlink installations and is close to finishing upgrades across its Airbus A350 fleet. As the service expands across a network of 170+ destinations, passengers in all cabins can enjoy free streaming, gaming, and working at 35,000 feet on flights across six continents.
As the only MENA airline offering Starlink today — and the global leader in Starlink-equipped widebodies — Qatar Airways continues to set the pace for next-generation in-flight connectivity and passenger experience.
