Emirates has graduated 77 new flight cadets from the Emirates Flight Training Academy (EFTA) as the Dubai carrier accelerates its long-term cockpit pipeline to support future growth.
Speaking to reporters, Adel Al Redha, Emirates’ Deputy President and COO, said the airline is targeting 5,000 pilots over the next eight to 10 years.
Of the latest graduating class, 52 were Emiratis from the Emirates Group’s UAE National Pilot Cadet Programme, taking EFTA’s total output to more than 300 pilots since the academy launched. The remaining 25 graduates represented 15 other countries, reflecting the increasingly international makeup of the programme.
EFTA also recognised standout cadets for exceptional performance during the year, including Abdulrahman Alnuaimi, Falah Alhosani, Giada Macario and Shaheer Bhatti, while Saeed Abdulla was honoured for being the most diligent.
For award-winning cadet Giada Macario, the milestone capped three years of intensive training that blended classroom instruction with flight time. She said the recognition validated the long hours and demanding schedule, noting that even after days running into late afternoon, cadets pushed through with additional study to reach graduation.
Following the ceremony, the newly qualified cadets will move into further aircraft-specific training on Boeing and Airbus types, progressing from academy flying into airline operations. EFTA initially trained Emirati nationals only, but later expanded intake to international students as Emirates scaled its recruitment and training capacity.
