Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group recorded modest passenger traffic growth in November, with demand improving slightly faster than capacity, while cargo posted a sharper year-on-year jump heading into the year-end peak season.
The group said passenger traffic rose 2.6% year-on-year (y-o-y) for the month, outpacing a 2.2% increase in passenger capacity. Passenger load factor (PLF) improved to 87.3%, up 0.3 percentage points (ppts) from a year earlier. By airline, SIA’s PLF was 86.4% and Scoot’s was 90.7%.
Together, SIA and Scoot carried 3.5 million passengers in November, representing a 6.0% y-o-y increase.
Cargo performance strengthened more noticeably, with cargo carriage up 12.4% y-o-y, supported by peak season demand and a higher contribution from freighter aircraft. Cargo loads increased 8.1%, outpacing a 1.6% rise in cargo capacity, lifting cargo load factor to 60.2%—an improvement of 3.6 ppts y-o-y.
On the network front, Scoot launched passenger services to Nha Trang in Vietnam, while SIA resumed seasonal flights to Sapporo (Chitose) in Japan. As of end-November, the group’s passenger network spanned 131 destinations across 37 countries and territories. SIA served 79 destinations and Scoot served 76, while the cargo network covered 135 destinations in 38 countries and territories.
