Addis Ababa (January 17, 2026) — Ethiopian Aviation University has graduated 457 aviation professionals from 12 countries, reinforcing its role as a major training hub for airline talent in Africa and beyond.
The graduating class includes 58 pilots, 115 aircraft maintenance technicians, and 284 cabin crew. The trainees come from Cameroon, Chad, Ethiopia, Gabon, Italy, Madagascar, Malawi, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, and Yemen, according to the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA).
Speaking at the ceremony, Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO Mesfin Tasew said one of the key drivers behind the airline group’s growth has been its ability to recruit, train, and retain a skilled and motivated workforce. He credited Ethiopian Aviation University with playing a long-term, “indispensable” role in supplying aviation professionals not only to Ethiopian Airlines but also to other African markets.
Mesfin added that the mix of graduates from multiple countries highlights the university’s wider contribution to the aviation industry, noting that Ethiopian Airlines is investing to expand the university’s capacity to meet rising demand for trained professionals.
Ethiopian Aviation University President Laeke Tadesse said the institution remains focused on delivering world-class aviation education, emphasizing that its mission extends beyond producing staff for one airline. He described the university as a Pan-African institution working to develop future aviation leaders across the continent.
