The Public Authority of Civil Aviation (PACA) announced on Saturday that Kuwait Airways has been granted exclusive rights to manage all ground handling services at Kuwait International Airport, positioning the national carrier as the sole provider for every airline operating at the hub.
PACA President Sheikh Hamoud Mubarak Al-Hamoud Al-Jaber Al-Sabah explained in a statement to KUNA that the move is part of broader efforts to empower Kuwait Airways to deliver comprehensive ground services for domestic, regional, and international carriers. He said the step marks a significant stride toward improving passenger experience, increasing operational efficiency, and equipping Kuwaiti professionals with advanced aviation skills.
Sheikh Hamoud highlighted that PACA’s 20-year strategic roadmap is built on four key pillars. The first focuses on upgrading and expanding the airport’s infrastructure to enhance performance and traveler satisfaction. The second emphasizes developing and qualifying national talent in aviation and air transport.
The third aims at diversifying income streams beyond oil and strengthening financial sustainability, while the fourth seeks to integrate global best practices in airport operations, air navigation, and aviation safety.
He commended Kuwait Airways and its operational teams for taking charge of all ground handling responsibilities from today, describing the initiative as a milestone that reinforces the airline’s leadership in the country’s civil aviation sector.
The PACA president also conveyed his appreciation to Kuwait’s leadership — His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah — for their continued support of the aviation sector and infrastructure projects at the airport.
He also praised the Minister of Defense, Sheikh Abdullah Ali Al-Sabah, for his close supervision, which contributed significantly to the success of aviation development projects. Sheikh Hamoud further thanked the Ministry of Interior, the Public Authority for Manpower, and the General Administration of Customs for their cooperation in ensuring a smooth operational transition.
In closing, Sheikh Hamoud expressed his gratitude to PACA’s staff for their efforts and acknowledged National Aviation Services (NAS) for its 22 years of partnership in ground handling operations, wishing the company success in its future endeavors.
