Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy and Tourism and Chairman of the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), met with Rammohan Naidu Kinjarapu, India’s Minister of Civil Aviation, to explore new prospects for cooperation in civil aviation and to strengthen bilateral efforts aimed at advancing economic and investment growth between the two countries.
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the “Wings of India 2026” Conference in Hyderabad, where Bin Touq represented the UAE.
During the talks, both leaders reaffirmed the robust and evolving UAE–India partnership, which continues to expand across economic, tourism, and other key sectors. They noted that the flourishing bilateral ties are mirrored in the growing movement of travelers and cargo between both nations.
Bin Touq emphasized that air traffic between the UAE and India remains on an upward trajectory, with roughly 1,231 direct flights connecting cities across the two countries each week, operated by carriers from both sides. He said this strong level of connectivity reflects the scale of mutual demand and the strategic importance of the air transport link.
He pointed out that India remains the UAE’s leading tourism source market, accounting for about 14% of total international visitors. This, he said, highlights the UAE’s prominent position within the Indian travel market and the effectiveness of its adaptive tourism strategy in attracting visitors from one of its most significant partners.
Bin Touq added that the ongoing growth in aviation and tourism stems from the broader economic synergy the two countries enjoy. He stressed the importance of continued coordination to enhance air transport services and expand travel flows in ways that align with both nations’ development goals.
The meeting underscored the shared interest of the UAE and India in broadening their aviation cooperation, in line with the steady progress of bilateral relations and their mutual vision to promote economic diversification and facilitate increased movement of people and goods.
