Passengers on a Scoot flight from Singapore to Chiang Mai experienced a two-hour delay on February 1, as flight operations were temporarily affected by preparations for the upcoming Singapore Airshow 2026.
Flight TR676 was supposed to depart from Changi Airport at 9 a.m., but travelers were informed that take-off would be postponed until around 11:30 a.m., Stomp reported, citing one of the passengers on board.
During the wait, Scoot distributed snack packs containing a box of potato crackers and a bottle of water. Passengers were also given a flight delay notice detailing options for a refund if they decided not to continue with the journey.
According to Scoot’s website, the flight eventually departed at 11 a.m. and arrived in Chiang Mai at 12:52 p.m. One traveler expressed frustration, saying the delay disrupted her plans for the day.
A Scoot spokesperson later apologized for the inconvenience, explaining that the delay was caused by air traffic congestion and temporary airspace closures ahead of the biennial Singapore Airshow.
Now in its 10th edition, the Singapore Airshow is being held from February 3 to 8 at the Changi Exhibition Center. Singapore Airlines had earlier announced that flights to and from Singapore between January 29 and February 8 could experience similar delays due to the event.
