Thick fog early Tuesday, February 10, caused major disruptions at Bahrain International Airport, forcing several flight delays and diversions as poor visibility made aircraft movement unsafe.
According to data from FlightRadar, the dense fog that blanketed parts of the kingdom led to precautionary diversions of incoming flights to nearby Gulf airports, including King Fahd International in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, and Hamad International in Doha, Qatar.
The airport’s live schedule showed multiple delays and rescheduled services for both arrivals and departures. Flights connecting Bahrain with key destinations such as London, Kuwait, Riyadh, Abu Dhabi, and Sharjah were among those most affected.
The disruptions peaked during the early morning hours, when visibility was at its lowest, but operations gradually returned to normal later in the day as conditions improved. Bahrain’s Meteorological Directorate had earlier warned of reduced visibility due to fog — a common winter occurrence caused by high humidity and cooler overnight temperatures.
Airport officials urged passengers to stay in touch with their airlines for updates and stressed that safety remained the top priority. The incident once again highlights how seasonal fog can cause widespread travel delays across the Gulf, a region prone to such weather-related disruptions during winter.
