Emirates is bringing the colours and rhythms of Brazil’s Carnival onboard its flights, offering a lively mix of Brazilian-inspired cuisine and entertainment between Dubai and Brazil from 13 to 21 February. The airline aims to give travellers an early taste of one of the world’s most vibrant cultural celebrations long before they reach their destination.
Throughout the week, passengers travelling in all cabin classes on routes linking Dubai with São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro will experience a menu that celebrates Brazil’s rich culinary heritage. Guests on connecting services from Rio de Janeiro to Buenos Aires will also enjoy the festive touches.
First and Business Class menus feature traditional favourites such as braised beef short ribs served with garlic sauce, coriander pesto rice, roasted vegetables, and plantain chips — embodying the hearty spirit of Carnival. Premium Economy customers can look forward to braised veal cheek with similar accompaniments, while those in Economy can enjoy Picadinho de Carnival, a Brazilian-style beef dish served with coriander rice, roasted plantains, and grilled peppers.
On flights bound for Brazil, dessert takes centre stage with a rich brigadeiro cheesecake topped with ganache and complemented by coconut vanilla anglaise, guava, and passion fruit coulis. Travellers flying to São Paulo aboard the airline’s iconic A380 can also delight in a special banana bundt cake and an array of sweet snacks served at the Onboard Lounge.
The festive dining continues on Emirates’ return services to Dubai. First and Business Class passengers will savour grilled filet mignon with biquinho pepper sauce, accompanied by sautéed kale, roasted pumpkin, palm heart, and Brazilian-style rice with beans and vegetables. Premium Economy customers will dine on braised short ribs with local garnishes, while Economy Class travellers can enjoy tender braised beef in onion sauce with traditional sides including farofa, kale, and stewed black beans.
Premium cabins on Dubai-bound flights begin with smoked white fish paired with coriander sauce and mango relish, while Premium Economy and Economy menus feature a bright cauliflower salad. Carnival’s tropical flair carries into dessert with brigadeiro and mango coulis-topped fruit tartlets in premium cabins, and manjar branco — a creamy coconut pudding — in the other cabins. Passengers visiting the A380 Onboard Lounge from São Paulo can indulge in orange cake with white chocolate sauce and fresh fruit skewers.
To complement the festive menu, Emirates’ award-winning ice inflight entertainment will spotlight Brazilian cinema and music, including up to ten local films such as Meu Nome é Gal, Os Sapos, and Inexplicável. The platform also offers more than 260 Hollywood titles dubbed in Portuguese, plus 46 music playlists highlighting the sounds of Brazil — from classics by Sérgio Mendes and Gilberto Gil to contemporary Latin hits.
The Carnival-themed experience is part of Emirates’ broader initiative to craft special seasonal menus that immerse passengers in the culture and flavours of their destinations from the moment they step onboard.
