American Airlines is celebrating its 100th anniversary with a new partnership with Women in Aviation International (WAI), the world’s largest nonprofit dedicated to advancing women in aviation and aerospace.
As a strategic partner for 2026, American will serve as the first-ever Official Airline of WAI’s 37th Annual Conference, set to take place March 19–21 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas.
WAI has over 20,000 members across 120 countries and works to create a future where everyone has the opportunity to pursue their aviation and aerospace dreams. The organization focuses on developing the industry’s talent pipeline, supporting women in all stages of their careers, and inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals.
“At American, we believe it’s essential to build a culture where women and girls feel represented, empowered, and able to thrive as leaders,” said Cole Brown, American’s Chief People Officer. “As we mark our centennial, partnering with WAI allows us to celebrate our legacy of innovation while strengthening our commitment to the future of aviation. We’re thrilled to welcome WAI supporters to our hometown of Dallas–Fort Worth and continue inspiring future generations.”
This year’s WAI2026 Conference will bring together more than 5,000 attendees — including aviation and aerospace professionals, students, and industry leaders — for keynote sessions, hands-on learning, career development, and networking events.
As part of the partnership, American Airlines will take an active role throughout the conference. The airline will award eight scholarships, participate in panel discussions, attend networking sessions, and sponsor both the Pioneer Hall of Fame Dinner and the Girls in Aviation Day Dallas Career Panel on March 21.
“We greatly appreciate American’s ongoing support as a 2026 strategic partner,” said Lynda Coffman, CEO of Women in Aviation International. “Having American as the Official Airline of our annual conference makes this milestone event even more meaningful as we welcome our members to the Dallas–Fort Worth area.”
