Emirates, the world’s first Autism Certified Airline, has extended its acclaimed “Travel Rehearsal” initiative to Denpasar, helping children with autism and other accessibility needs experience air travel with confidence and ease.
Part of Emirates’ “Accessible Travel for All” commitment, the Travel Rehearsal programme was first launched at the airline’s Dubai hub in 2024 and has since been introduced in cities including Barcelona, Brisbane, Dubai, Manila, Madrid, Toronto, and now Denpasar. Over 30,000 Emirates cabin crew and ground staff have received specialised training to support passengers with sensory sensitivities and other neurodiverse needs.
On 18 February, Denpasar International Airport (DPS) welcomed 17 participants—eight children with autism and their guardians—for a guided simulation of a complete air travel journey. The session covered check-in, security, immigration, boarding, in-flight experience, disembarkation, baggage claim, customs clearance, and final pick-up, providing families with familiarity and reassurance before actual travel.
Majid Al Falasi, Emirates Country Manager Indonesia, said:
“Being the world’s first Autism Certified Airline demonstrates Emirates’ commitment to inclusive travel. Bringing the Travel Rehearsal to Denpasar allows us to enhance the travel experience for passengers with special requirements. We thank our partners, including PT JAS Airport Services, PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, immigration, customs, and airport authorities, for supporting this initiative. This milestone reflects both Bali’s importance as a global destination and Emirates’ dedication to accessible travel worldwide.”
Beyond the airport, Emirates promotes neurodiversity awareness through its award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice, offering curated films, documentaries, podcasts, and television content designed to foster understanding and inclusion.
