Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced an increase in fuel surcharges on both domestic and international flights after a significant surge in fuel expenses linked to the ongoing crisis in the Gulf region.
According to a spokesperson for the national carrier, the airline’s fuel costs have risen by 34 percent, prompting the company to adjust surcharges across its network in order to manage operational expenses.
Under the new pricing structure, passengers on domestic routes will pay an additional $20 in fuel surcharge, while international travelers could see increases of up to $100, depending on the destination.
The airline said the adjustment reflects the sharp escalation in aviation fuel prices amid regional instability in the Gulf, which has affected airline operating costs worldwide. PIA indicated that the revised surcharge is intended to help offset the higher fuel expenditures while maintaining flight operations.
Airlines across several regions have been closely monitoring fuel price fluctuations as geopolitical tensions in the Gulf continue to influence global energy markets and aviation costs.
