Etihad Airways and Air Cambodia have introduced a new codeshare agreement aimed at improving connectivity between the Middle East and Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on Cambodia’s tourism sector.
Under the arrangement, customers flying with Etihad can book a single-ticket journey to Siem Reap via Phnom Penh, with baggage checked through to the final destination. The move is expected to make travel to Cambodia’s famed Angkor Wat temple complex more convenient for international visitors.
Siem Reap, widely regarded as a cultural hub, offers more than its historic temples. The city is also known for its lively night markets, traditional Khmer cuisine and immersive cultural attractions that continue to draw global tourists.
The partnership is reciprocal, allowing Air Cambodia passengers to access Etihad-operated flights between Phnom Penh and Abu Dhabi, strengthening links between the two regions.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, described Cambodia as a growing market within the airline’s network, citing rising travel demand. He said the agreement would expand access for passengers, enabling smoother connections between Siem Reap and destinations across Etihad’s global network via Abu Dhabi.
Eng Molina, Chief Commercial Officer at Air Cambodia, said the collaboration enhances connectivity between Southeast Asia and the Middle East. He noted that the partnership opens up Abu Dhabi as a key hub for Air Cambodia passengers, while also encouraging more international visitors to explore Cambodia’s cultural heritage.
In addition to the codeshare, Etihad travellers can connect to Air Cambodia’s Vietnam routes through an existing interline agreement, offering onward travel to destinations such as Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Phu Quoc.
Etihad began operating flights between Abu Dhabi and Phnom Penh in October 2025, marking its entry into the Cambodian market.
