British Airways has revealed the future of its premium travel experience with the launch of two new lounges at Miami International Airport and Dubai International Airport, showcasing the airline’s next-generation global lounge design.
The new concept, created in collaboration with global architecture firm Gensler, merges British Airways’ signature style with the character of each destination — drawing on Miami’s Art Deco charm and the UAE’s intricate fretwork architecture. Both lounges feature elegant full-service bars, menus celebrating local ingredients with a British twist, and the exclusive Concorde Dining Rooms for First Class guests.
The openings mark a key milestone in British Airways’ £7 billion transformation programme, which includes extensive investment in airport lounges worldwide, following recent refurbishments in Gatwick, Lagos, Singapore, Seattle, and Washington Dulles.
“These unique spaces have been created with our customers in mind and are the next step in our extensive lounge transformation plan,” said Calum Laming, British Airways’ Chief Customer Officer. “We’ve blended our British originality with each destination’s unique character to create something truly special.”
Miami: British flair meets Art Deco elegance
The new 13,000-square-foot Miami lounge — the largest British Airways-operated lounge outside London — is located in Terminal E above the airline’s departure gates. Inspired by the city’s vibrant Art Deco style, the space offers panoramic airfield views, a striking full-service bar, five distinct relaxation zones, and a locally inspired dining menu. First Class passengers can access the Concorde Dining Room, offering dishes such as Wagyu beef strip loin and seared scallops, paired with fine Champagne and English sparkling wine.
Dubai: A fusion of British sophistication and Middle Eastern warmth
At Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 1, the 5,800-square-foot lounge combines contemporary British design with traditional Emirati elements. The interior features marble finishes, patterned metal panels, and mirrored ceilings. Guests can enjoy Arabic breakfast, mezze selections, and signature cocktails like the “Dubai Chocolate Martini.” First Class travellers can dine à la carte in the exclusive Concorde Dining Room, featuring both Middle Eastern and British classics.
Ashley Dowell, Design Director at Gensler, said the design reflects a “global journey framed through a British lens,” offering travellers “a surprising retreat to relax, work, and socialise.”
British Airways says the new lounges mark just the beginning of a wider rollout, redefining the airline’s global hospitality experience with a focus on comfort, culture, and connection.
