Dubai Airports has launched the next phase of its comprehensive accessibility strategy — a 10-year plan designed to make Dubai International (DXB) and Al Maktoum International (DWC) the most accessible and inclusive airports in the world by 2035.
The initiative reinforces Dubai’s commitment to becoming a disability-friendly city and aligns with the UAE’s national strategy supporting People of Determination (PoD). The focus areas include strengthening accessibility foundations, enhancing the traveller experience across all touchpoints, and setting a global benchmark for inclusive air travel.
“Our commitment to accessibility is not just a promise; it’s a core pillar of our mission to deliver a world-class experience for every guest,” said Majed Al Joker, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Airports. “By collaborating with our partners and, for the first time, the wider People of Determination community, we are redefining the airport journey and setting a new global standard for accessible travel.”
The announcement coincides with the launch of a new awareness campaign, DXB for All, co-created with People of Determination and supported by Dubai Airports’ oneDXB partners. The campaign shares six real-life stories highlighting the diverse needs of travellers — from a child with sensory sensitivities to a deaf guest communicating with staff using sign language, and a visually impaired traveller guided by tactile pathways.
Building on the 2022 campaign We All Meet the World Differently, this new phase underscores that accessibility extends beyond infrastructure — it’s about fostering empathy and shifting mindsets among employees, travellers, and the wider public.
“By co-creating this campaign with People of Determination, we ensure their voices influence how we design, operate, and connect — not just within the airport, but with the broader community we serve,” Al Joker added.
The campaign features prominent advocates including Emirati accessibility pioneer Fatma Al Jassim, disability inclusion consultant and former Paralympic swimmer Jessica Smith, Dubai-based mother Yasmin Carey with her son Ellis, as well as Layth Kamal (autism and ADHD advocate), Mohammed Alghafli (advocate for the visually impaired), and Ahmed Butti (deaf community representative).
The initiative is being delivered in collaboration with partners across the oneDXB ecosystem — including Emirates, flydubai, Dubai Police, the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs, Dubai Customs, dnata, Dubai Taxi Company, Dubai Health, Dubai Duty Free, and Serco — ensuring a seamless, inclusive journey for every traveller.
Dubai Airports already offers a suite of accessibility services, such as the Travel Planner, an online visual guide to help travellers prepare for their journey, and the Sunflower Lanyard, a discreet identifier granting access to priority lanes and autism-friendly routes. Other features include complimentary two-hour parking, wheelchair assistance, hearing loops at over 520 touchpoints, and a sensory-friendly Assisted Travel Lounge in Terminal 2.
