Qatar’s Hamad International Airport (HIA) has recorded its highest-ever quarterly traffic, handling more than 14.3 million passengers between July and September 2025 — a 4.3 percent rise compared to the same period last year.
According to HIA, August 2025 was the airport’s busiest month on record, surpassing 5 million travellers. The surge highlights the airport’s growing role as one of the world’s fastest-expanding aviation hubs.
The record quarter was fuelled by a 7 percent year-on-year increase in point-to-point traffic, with 3.4 million passengers travelling to and from Doha. Growth was further boosted by increased aircraft movements and consistently high seat occupancy across airlines.
Qatar Airways contributed to the momentum by launching new routes to Malta and Aleppo, enhancing the country’s global connectivity. Despite the growth, HIA maintained an impressive 98 percent customer satisfaction rate, underscoring its reputation for operational excellence and premium service.
The Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA) reported a 1.3 percent rise in aircraft movements to 72,700 flights, while cargo operations remained stable at nearly 665,000 tonnes, only marginally down from last year. Airlines at HIA recorded an average seat load factor of 84.1 percent, reflecting sustained travel demand.
QCAA also highlighted continued momentum in October 2025, with aircraft movements up 6.9 percent to 24,576 flights and passenger traffic rising 10.2 percent year-on-year to 4.64 million travellers. Cargo and mail operations grew by 4 percent, reaching 238,356 tonnes.
HIA’s Chief Operating Officer Hamad Al Khater said the airport is “scaling with purpose to meet rising passenger demand,” driven by Qatar’s growing appeal as a global destination.
“Our airport continues to optimise its capacity and operations, ensuring that every milestone redefines global standards in airport performance,” he added.
With record traffic and ongoing expansion, Hamad International Airport continues to cement Qatar’s position as a leading aviation hub, connecting millions of passengers and tonnes of cargo across continents.
