Verifying your Saudi visit visa is the first step to ensuring a smooth trip. The General Directorate of Passports offers an easy online service through the Muqeem Portal, allowing visitors to confirm whether their visa is valid, expired, or eligible for extension.
The Muqeem “Visa Verification” tool supports all types of visit visas. To check your visa status, visit the Muqeem Portal, choose Visa Verification, select your verification method (such as visa number or passport number), enter the required details, and click Check. The system instantly shows the visa’s status so you can travel confidently.
Children under 18 may have their visit visa converted into a residence permit (iqama) if both parents hold valid iqamas, according to the General Directorate of Passports. Meanwhile, family visit visas may be extended for the same duration as the original visa, with a total stay of up to 270 days.
Most visit visas can be renewed through the Absher platform, including single-entry visas. The request must be submitted via the host’s Absher account. A recent clarification states that the total extension period cannot exceed 180 days, and the application must be filed within 7 days before the visa expiry. Valid medical insurance is required.
To extend a visit visa on Absher, log in, choose Passport Services, then Extend Visit Visa, enter the required data, upload documents, pay the fee, and submit.
Conditions for extensions include:
- No more than 3 days have passed since expiration.
- Passport must be valid.
- Visitor must be inside Saudi Arabia.
- Medical insurance must be active.
- No traffic violations.
- Extension fees must be paid.
Before traveling, double-check all details—entry dates, visa type, host information, and insurance coverage. Keep both digital and printed copies of your documents, and ensure the host's Absher account is ready for any needed extensions.
Using Muqeem for verification and Absher for renewals helps visitors stay compliant and stress-free during their time in Saudi Arabia.
