H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of the Executive Council of Dubai, has underscored the strategic importance of Dubai’s aviation industry in linking international markets and supporting global economic activity. He said the sector continues to advance under the guidance of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, as part of the emirate’s long-term development vision.
During a visit to Dubai International Airport, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum reviewed operational performance and passenger services, including those provided by Emirates Airline. He was accompanied by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, who oversees airport and airline operations across the emirate.
The Crown Prince praised the work of operational teams at Dubai Airports, noting their efficiency and coordination under Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed’s leadership. He also visited the Dubai Police operations centre at the airport, where he was briefed on security systems designed to enhance passenger safety through advanced smart technologies.
Officials also presented updates on ongoing digital and smart infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving passenger flow, reducing processing times, and increasing overall travel comfort through more efficient airport systems.
Speaking during the visit, Sheikh Hamdan highlighted the resilience of Dubai’s aviation ecosystem, noting that it continues to operate smoothly under changing global conditions while maintaining high safety and service standards. He said the sector remains central to Dubai’s economic growth and its role as a global connector of people and markets.
He further stressed that future expansion plans for Dubai Airports will align with the emirate’s broader vision for innovation-led growth in global aviation, supported by continued investment in infrastructure and talent development.
Sheikh Hamdan also reviewed operations at Emirates Airline, commending staff for their role in maintaining the carrier’s global reputation. The airline, led by Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, continues to connect Dubai to 123 destinations across 65 countries, reinforcing its position as one of the world’s major aviation hubs.
He praised pilots, cabin crew, and operational staff for sustaining high service standards across all conditions. He also received a detailed briefing on the airline’s Network Operations Control Centre, which manages global flight operations using artificial intelligence, computer vision systems, and real-time geospatial data to monitor flights, weather, and global aviation developments.
Officials explained that the system enables rapid decision-making, improves operational efficiency, and supports both passenger and cargo movement through integrated coordination across departments.
The visit was attended by senior officials, including Lieutenant General Abdulla Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police; Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism; Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai; and Lieutenant General Awad Hader Al Muhairi, Vice President of Dubai’s State Security Department.
Dubai International Airport recorded a historic performance in 2025, handling more than 95 million passengers and maintaining its position as the world’s busiest international airport for the twelfth consecutive year. Total flight movements reached 454,800, reflecting a 3.3 percent increase year-on-year and highlighting continued expansion in capacity and network activity.
