King Abdulaziz International Airport (KAIA) in Jeddah has reached a significant milestone, recording 50 million passengers in 2025. This achievement marks the highest passenger volume ever recorded at any Saudi airport, solidifying KAIA’s place among the world’s mega airports and enhancing its position as a key global aviation hub.
The milestone reflects the ongoing transformation of King Abdulaziz International Airport as it continues to grow in stature as a vital gateway to Saudi Arabia and a central hub for international air travel. This success underscores KAIA’s vital role in boosting Saudi Arabia’s tourism sector and supporting its goals under Saudi Vision 2030 to diversify the economy, improve the travel experience, and strengthen the Kingdom’s position as a premier global destination.
The airport’s role as the primary gateway for pilgrims traveling to the Two Holy Mosques is also crucial, facilitating the movement of millions of Hajj and Umrah visitors each year, further elevating its importance on the global stage.
To celebrate the occasion, Jeddah Airports Company welcomed the 50-millionth passenger, a French national who arrived from Paris on a Saudia flight to attend a sporting event in Jeddah. The passenger was warmly greeted by airport officials and presented with a commemorative gift to mark the achievement.
Eng. Mazen Johar, CEO of Jeddah Airports Company, commented on the historic achievement, emphasizing that this milestone demonstrates the airport’s operational readiness and marks a critical step toward future growth. KAIA’s long-term expansion plans aim to double the number of passengers in the coming years, with ongoing efforts to enhance capacity, services, and infrastructure.
He also acknowledged the national achievement and expressed gratitude to the Saudi leadership, including the Minister of Transport, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and MATARAT Holding, for their ongoing support and commitment to improving passenger experiences at the airport.
