Dubai International Airport (DXB) is preparing for its busiest month on record, with December 2025 forecast to handle more than 8.7 million passengers, according to Dubai Airports.
Daily traffic is expected to exceed 300,000 travellers throughout the month as residents and visitors travel during the festive period, underlining Dubai’s continued appeal as a major global holiday and transit hub.
Dubai Airports said it is working closely with airlines, authorities and service teams to manage the surge. Passengers should expect busy terminals, longer queues at check-in and security, and crowded boarding areas during peak travel times.
Travellers are advised to check in online, arrive at the airport no more than three hours before departure, and ensure they comply with travel and baggage regulations to help keep journeys smooth.
Emirates passengers can take advantage of several services, including home or city check-in, self-service kiosks and Smart Gates. First and Business Class passengers travelling through Terminal 3 can also use the “Red Carpet” Smart Tunnel for faster passport control.
Dubai Airports again recommended using the Dubai Metro to access Terminals 1 and 3, particularly during peak periods. Passengers are also advised to pack hand luggage carefully, especially spare batteries and power banks, to speed up security screening.
Enhanced assistance is available for People of Determination, including Sunflower Lanyard support and dedicated lounges in Terminal 2.
Once through security, travellers can access a wide range of facilities, including restaurants, duty-free shopping, lounges and the DXB Express Maps digital wayfinding platform.
The peak travel wave, which began during the UAE National Day long weekend in late November, is expected to continue through 31 December, with more than 10 million passengers forecast over the next five weeks. December alone is set to become DXB’s single busiest month, reinforcing its status as one of the world’s busiest airports.
