Doha’s Hamad International Airport (HIA) says it has strengthened services and operational procedures ahead of an expected rise in arrivals returning from winter holidays.
In a statement issued Tuesday, the airport shared practical guidance aimed at helping passengers move through arrivals more smoothly during peak periods. Eligible travellers are encouraged to use e-gates to speed up passport control, including families with children taller than 130cm, which the airport described as the quickest option during busy times. Passengers seeking eligibility details were advised to check the Ministry of Interior website.
For baggage collection, HIA said arriving passengers can pick up bags from the numbered baggage carousels, with carousel numbers displayed on screens in the baggage hall. Oversized items such as strollers and wheelchairs are delivered on dedicated belts, and travellers are reminded to verify baggage tags before leaving the claim area. The airport added that a baggage services desk in the arrivals hall is available to assist passengers as needed.
To ease congestion outside the terminal during busy arrival windows, HIA said using parking facilities is preferred, helping improve traffic flow and reduce sidewalk crowding.
The airport also highlighted multiple transport options into the city, including authorized taxis and buses from designated pavilions on either side of the arrivals hall, ride-hailing services such as Uber and Badr-go from a designated pick-up area, and the Doha Metro via a short indoor walk from the terminal. Car rental, limousine, valet, and other services are also available.
HIA said its teams are deployed across the airport to support a seamless and comfortable arrival experience.
