Etihad Airways is ramping up its presence in the United States with expanded services to two key destinations, aiming to strengthen links between North America and fast-growing markets in Asia and India.
The airline will increase flights to O’Hare International Airport in Chicago to twice daily, reinforcing one of its longest-standing North American routes. Meanwhile, services to Charlotte will rise from four weekly flights to daily operations between 15 June and 8 September, following the route’s launch on 20 March 2026.
These changes are expected to significantly enhance Etihad’s U.S. network, offering passengers greater flexibility and improved access to domestic destinations through partner airlines. The expanded schedule also strengthens connections via Abu Dhabi to a range of high-demand markets.
Flights on both routes will be operated using the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, configured with 32 Business Class and 271 Economy seats.
Chicago continues to serve as a key gateway for Etihad in North America. The move to double-daily service is expected to enhance one-stop connectivity to multiple destinations across India, including Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad and Mumbai. Additional links extend to Asia-Pacific cities such as Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur and Manila.
Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, said Chicago remains central to the airline’s U.S. operations, noting that the frequency increase reflects strong and consistent demand while enhancing connectivity through Abu Dhabi.
The rapid scale-up of services to Charlotte marks one of the fastest route expansions in Etihad’s network. The airline said the increase is driven by robust demand for both direct travel and connecting flights, underlining its long-term commitment to the market.
De also highlighted the strong response from passengers in Charlotte, stating that the move to daily flights demonstrates the route’s growing importance. He added that the expansion will strengthen links between the southeastern United States and Etihad’s global network, supporting both passenger and cargo traffic.
The latest developments are part of Etihad’s phased network growth strategy, with capacity adjustments aligned to demand across key regions. The enhanced schedule is expected to further improve connectivity between Abu Dhabi and destinations across the Middle East, South Asia and beyond, while also expanding access to the U.S. domestic market through partner carriers.
