flydubai has reported a significant rise in passenger confidence in the UAE’s aviation sector, following recent disruptions caused by regional airspace restrictions linked to ongoing conflict.
The airline said authorities in the UAE acted swiftly to prioritise safety, implementing precautionary airspace closures guided by intelligence assessments. This was followed by a carefully managed, phased reopening that helped restore operations while maintaining public trust.
At the onset of the disruption, emergency air corridors were established in coordination with regional partners. These allowed a limited number of flights to operate, with capacity gradually increasing as conditions stabilised.
Despite the operational challenges, flydubai said it successfully operated more than 3,800 flights in March, highlighting the airline’s ability to maintain continuity during a period of uncertainty.
The carrier attributed its recovery to close collaboration between aviation regulators, government institutions and private-sector stakeholders. It also pointed to effective contingency planning, transparent communication and strong customer support as key factors in reducing disruption.
Passenger sentiment appeared to reflect these efforts. flydubai recorded an “Excellent” Net Promoter Score (NPS) for March—nearly double its previous levels and among the highest in the aviation sector. The metric, widely used to assess customer loyalty and satisfaction, indicates growing confidence in both the airline and the wider UAE aviation system.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, Chief Executive Officer of flydubai, said the past months had posed exceptional challenges for global aviation but noted that confidence in the UAE’s leadership remained strong.
He said decisions taken during the disruption prioritised the safety of residents and visitors while ensuring operational stability. He added that flydubai remained focused on delivering reliable service, clear communication and the flexibility needed to respond to rapidly changing conditions.
Al Ghaith also expressed appreciation to passengers, noting that their continued support enabled the airline to sustain operations during the disruption.
The airline linked its improved customer satisfaction to ongoing investments in cabin upgrades, onboard services, punctuality and long-term development strategies focused on both product and workforce.
Passenger feedback echoed this sentiment. Travellers praised the airline for maintaining operations during partial airspace closures, enabling safe journeys and timely returns home. Others highlighted flydubai’s reliability compared to other carriers, particularly during periods of widespread cancellations.
The airline’s performance during the disruption reinforces Dubai’s standing as a dependable global aviation hub, even amid regional instability.
