Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Tourism has inaugurated new offices in the Makkah and Madinah regions to strengthen the efficiency and quality of tourism services, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Ministry spokesperson Mohammed Al-Rasasimah said the new offices will oversee inspections, ensure regulatory compliance, support investors, enhance service quality, and coordinate with government entities to provide an integrated framework for managing tourism services for pilgrims and visitors.
Tourism continues to play a key role in Madinah’s economy, employing 11 percent of the region’s workforce in the first quarter of 2025, according to a recent report.
The Madinah Chamber of Commerce noted a strong performance in the hospitality sector, with the city recording the highest hotel occupancy rate in the Kingdom during the last quarter of 2024. Serviced apartments also saw an occupancy rate of 48.7 percent, SPA said.
Madinah ranked second nationwide, after Makkah, in average length of stay, with visitors spending about four nights. The growth aligns with Saudi Vision 2030’s goal to develop tourism and hospitality as sustainable economic drivers that create diverse employment opportunities.
