Saudi Arabia’s tourism industry has seen a major rise in local employment, with 147,000 Saudi men and women joining the sector between 2020 and mid-2025, according to the Saudi Human Resources Development Fund (HADAF).
The growth reflects the success of HADAF’s strategic partnership with the tourism sector, aimed at equipping citizens with the skills needed for one of the Kingdom’s fastest-growing industries.
HADAF has signed 19 specialized training agreements worth over SR851 million, targeting more than 8,450 trainees through employment-linked programs. The fund reported a 75% job sustainability rate among participants, highlighting the effectiveness of its initiatives.
To further strengthen human capabilities, HADAF introduced 22 professional certifications in key tourism fields and 12 online courses through its Doroob platform. It also increased support for tourism establishments under its Employment Support scheme, covering up to 50% of salaries with a maximum monthly contribution of SR3,000.
These efforts align with Saudi Vision 2030 goals to empower citizens, diversify the economy, and make tourism a major driver of national growth. As the sector expands, skilled Saudi professionals are taking on a growing role in shaping the Kingdom’s global tourism ambitions.
