Rural farms in Saudi Arabia’s Najran Region are emerging as attractive tourism and investment destinations, offering visitors a chance to enjoy peaceful natural surroundings while experiencing the area’s traditional heritage.
Farm owners have developed their properties into open-air rural retreats, making use of green spaces, tall palm trees and aromatic plants to create relaxing settings. Traditional Najrani architectural elements have also been incorporated into the buildings, while seating areas and pathways feature heritage items including pottery, palm-leaf mats and Najrani dallahs.
The farms are also developing into family-friendly recreational destinations. Dedicated spaces for pets, rare birds and domesticated birds allow children and other visitors to feed and interact with the animals, adding an educational and recreational element to the experience.
Environmental sustainability is another focus of the farm operators. Modern irrigation systems are being used to reduce water consumption, while organic fertilisers help support agricultural production. Operators are also preserving native vegetation and recycling agricultural waste as part of efforts to protect the local environment.
The transformation of Najran’s farms highlights the potential of agritourism to combine rural recreation, cultural heritage and sustainable agricultural practices while creating new tourism and investment opportunities in the region.
