Saudi Arabia is broadening its plan to transform Hail’s Al-Nahayed Mountains into a premier five-star tourism and entertainment hub, reaffirming Hail Municipality’s commitment to developing sustainable tourism infrastructure that drives regional growth.
A World-Class Mountain Destination
The project envisions an integrated luxury resort and entertainment complex in the Al-Nahayed Mountains at Tuwarin, blending striking natural landscapes with high-end eco-lodging, adventure trails, cultural venues, and modern visitor facilities built to international standards. Officials have already conducted joint field visits to launch comprehensive surveys and feasibility studies that will guide environmental management, site planning, and development phasing.
Strategic Partnership
The Tourism Development Fund (TDF) is partnering with Hail Municipality to jointly develop and de-risk the project, ensuring unified alignment across investment, planning, and delivery. The initiative is a cornerstone of Hail’s Ajad investment program, which seeks to unlock private capital, encourage entrepreneurship, and leverage the region’s rich natural and cultural assets.
Sustainability at the Core
Sustainability principles are embedded throughout the concept—protecting natural features, applying low-impact architectural design, and creating long-term socio-economic value through local employment and skills training in hospitality, culture, and guiding. The initiative supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy for sustainable tourism growth, emphasizing conservation, renewable energy, and authentic cultural experiences.
Why Hail, Why Now
Hail is emerging as a dynamic tourism region, buoyed by growing visitor numbers, UNESCO-recognized heritage sites, and major public and private investments aimed at diversifying its economy. The Al-Nahayed development positions Hail as a flagship inland destination, catering to premium segments such as nature, culture, and adventure tourism—broadening the geographic spread of Saudi tourism beyond its coastal and metropolitan centers.
The Visitor Experience
Visitors can look forward to luxury eco-lodges with panoramic mountain views, hiking and climbing circuits, interpretive trails celebrating geology and heritage, family recreation zones, and immersive events showcasing Hail’s cuisine and culture. The design approach prioritizes authenticity—crafting high-end experiences that celebrate local identity rather than replicating global resort templates.
Investment Pathway
The project is currently in the survey and feasibility phase, focusing on refining land use, infrastructure, and financial models before advancing to detailed design and procurement. Backed by TDF financing and private-sector participation tools, the initiative is expected to spur ancillary businesses—from tour operations to food and beverage ventures—creating a robust tourism ecosystem across Hail.
Aligned with Vision 2030
The Al-Nahayed Mountains project reinforces the Kingdom’s national tourism ambitions: boosting GDP contribution, attracting international visitors, and achieving balanced regional development through sustainable, high-quality destinations that reflect local heritage and natural beauty. By merging world-class infrastructure with ecological stewardship, it exemplifies Saudi Arabia’s drive to redefine global mountain tourism.
