Etihad Airways and Ethiopian Airlines have officially launched a joint frequent-flyer partnership, giving millions of travelers enhanced rewards and network access across two of the region’s largest carriers. The collaboration follows Etihad’s inaugural flight to Addis Ababa on October 8 and expands on the airlines’ strategic joint-venture agreement.
Under the new programme integration, Etihad Guest and ShebaMiles members can now earn and redeem miles when flying on either airline, opening upgraded travel opportunities spanning Africa, the Middle East, Asia, Europe and beyond.
Through the partnership, Etihad Guest members can use their miles for flights, hotel stays, holidays and a wide selection of products through the Etihad Guest Reward Shop. ShebaMiles members similarly gain access to expanded benefits and redemption options across Ethiopian Airlines’ global network.
Mark Potter, Managing Director of Etihad Guest, said the collaboration marks “a historic moment for passengers of both airlines,” adding that it will offer more seamless travel and greater reward value for guests across key markets.
He noted the new link reinforces Etihad’s growth in Africa while giving travelers from across the Ethiopian network enhanced access to Abu Dhabi and Etihad’s expanding destinations.
Rahel Assefa, Ethiopian Airlines Group Marketing Vice President, welcomed the partnership as a customer-focused initiative that increases flexibility for loyalty members.
“This programme partnership is a great opportunity for loyalty programme members of both airlines,” she said, highlighting Ethiopian’s commitment to improving passenger experience through innovation and strategic cooperation.
The partnership strengthens ties between two rapidly growing aviation hubs Abu Dhabi and Addis Ababa as both carriers continue investing in connectivity, service expansion, and customer loyalty enhancements across global markets.
