Saudi Arabia's fast-growing aviation landscape has marked another milestone as AviLease, the Kingdom’s global aircraft lessor, sealed its first aircraft lease agreement with Riyadh Air — the Kingdom’s upcoming national carrier.
The deal covers one Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, cementing AviLease as the first leasing partner to support Riyadh Air’s fleet development.
Scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2025, the aircraft will join Riyadh Air’s technologically advanced and fuel-efficient fleet as the carrier prepares for its highly anticipated commercial launch.
The Boeing 787-9 is celebrated for its fuel efficiency and long-haul performance, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s goal to build a world-class, eco-efficient aviation ecosystem.
Edward O’Byrne, CEO of AviLease, described the agreement as a pivotal moment for both companies: "Becoming Riyadh Air’s first leasing partner highlights the trust placed in AviLease and reinforces our role as a strategic enabler of the Kingdom’s aviation ambitions."
Riyadh Air CFO Adam Boukadida echoed the sentiment, noting that the lease represents a critical step in building a state-of-the-art fleet.
"The Boeing 787 will play a key role in delivering a world-class travel experience for our future guests," he said.
Backed by Saudi Arabia’s ambitious aviation strategy and Vision 2030 goals, the partnership underscores ongoing efforts to expand connectivity, enhance fleet efficiency, and position Riyadh Air as a global force in air travel.
