Etihad Airways has reached a new milestone in its record-breaking year, inaugurating four new routes that connect Abu Dhabi to Tunis, Hanoi, Chiang Mai, and Hong Kong over three consecutive days. This strategic expansion underscores Abu Dhabi's growing importance as a major aviation hub and gateway to the UAE, contributing significantly to inbound tourism and trade.
The launch of these routes is a critical component of Etihad's ambitious growth strategy, responsible for nearly 45 percent of the UAE's total aviation progress this year.
By offering thousands of additional seats to and from Abu Dhabi, the airline is making it more accessible for travelers from Africa and Asia to explore the UAE's rich cultural heritage, stunning beaches, luxury accommodations, and vibrant events calendar. Simultaneously, the new routes provide UAE residents and visitors with increased travel options to key leisure and business destinations.
The newly introduced flights include:
- Tunis (starting November 1, with three weekly flights): This route enhances Etihad's presence in North Africa and caters to the increasing demand for travel between the UAE and Tunisia.
- Hanoi (starting November 2, with six weekly flights): Directly connecting Abu Dhabi to Vietnam’s bustling capital for the first time, this route is set to strengthen trade and tourism ties between the two nations.
- Chiang Mai (starting November 3, with four weekly flights): Opening a gateway for Middle Eastern and European travelers to Northern Thailand via Abu Dhabi.
- Hong Kong (starting November 3, with five weekly flights): Reestablishing links with one of Asia’s leading business and leisure hubs, this service complements the relaunch of Etihad’s codeshare partnership with Hong Kong Airlines, enhancing connectivity across Asia.
Antonoaldo Neves, Chief Executive Officer of Etihad Airways, remarked, “Each of these destinations brings unique attributes to our network from Tunis’s rich history to Hanoi’s dynamic atmosphere, Chiang Mai’s allure, and Hong Kong’s global vibrancy.
Together, they offer our guests more choices and invite more visitors to discover Abu Dhabi, one of the world’s most captivating cities. As we continue to drive almost half of the UAE’s aviation growth this year, our commitment remains to connect more people, cultures, and opportunities through our home in Abu Dhabi.”
With the addition of these four routes, Etihad’s global network now surpasses 85 destinations, cementing its role as a key player in connecting Abu Dhabi to the world and propelling tourism and economic development for the UAE.
