Omani low-cost carrier SalamAir has announced a new route connecting Muscat to Abha, Saudi Arabia, starting December 16, 2025. Ticket sales open on November 6, with Lite fares starting from RO29.99 ($78).
The new service marks a major step in SalamAir’s regional expansion and follows the airline’s strong performance in 2025, supported by the recent addition of its 15th aircraft, the Airbus A321neo “Barr Al-Hikman.”
Abha will become SalamAir’s fifth destination in Saudi Arabia, joining Riyadh, Jeddah, Medina, and Dammam. The route aims to strengthen business and tourism ties between Oman and the Kingdom, while offering passengers more travel options within the GCC.
Steven Allen, Chief Commercial Officer of SalamAir, said: “We are delighted to add Abha as our fifth destination in the Kingdom. This route demonstrates our ongoing commitment to connecting Oman with key GCC markets, while creating new opportunities for tourism and trade. The Kingdom remains a strategic market for SalamAir, and we look forward to expanding our presence further.”
The Muscat–Abha route will also provide convenient connections for passengers travelling to southern Saudi Arabia and surrounding regions. SalamAir expects strong demand from both leisure and business travelers, particularly during peak holiday periods and regional events.
In addition to enhancing connectivity, the expansion supports tourism growth in Abha, a city known for its scenic mountains, mild climate, and cultural attractions. SalamAir’s affordable fares and modern fleet are designed to make regional travel more accessible while maintaining high service standards.
With this launch, SalamAir reinforces its position as a leading low-cost carrier in the GCC and demonstrates its strategy to grow network reach, increase passenger traffic, and contribute to stronger economic and cultural links across the region.
Passengers on the new Muscat–Abha flights will enjoy the airline’s full range of services, including seamless booking, online check-in, and flexible fare options, making travel between Oman and Saudi Arabia easier and more convenient than ever.
