Oman’s low-cost carrier, SalamAir, has taken a significant step towards enhancing its fleet operations by signing a long-term Flight Hour Services (FHS) agreement with Airbus. This partnership is designed to improve the airline's operational reliability, maintenance efficiency, and overall fleet performance.
Under the terms of the agreement, Airbus will provide SalamAir with comprehensive FHS support, including component services, repair management, and on-site stock, all aimed at ensuring that the airline’s Airbus A320 family fleet operates with the highest standards of safety and dependability. By leveraging Airbus’ global expertise and cutting-edge predictive maintenance technology, the collaboration will streamline turnaround times, boost aircraft availability, and optimize cost-effectiveness.
Olcay Turker, SalamAir’s Chief Financial Officer, emphasized that the partnership marks a crucial milestone in the airline’s growth strategy. "As we expand our fleet and network, strengthening our maintenance and support ecosystem is essential. Airbus’ Flight Hour Services will equip us with the agility and technical assurance needed to uphold operational excellence and ensure the highest levels of safety and reliability for our passengers," Turker said.
Adil Al Sheibani, SalamAir’s Director of Engineering, added that the FHS solutions will significantly enhance maintenance operations. “This partnership will provide faster access to high-quality components, real-time technical data, and global repair expertise, all of which will help reduce aircraft downtime and improve efficiency across our maintenance cycles,” he explained.
Marc Muller, Regional Head of Commercial Services at Airbus Africa & Middle East, highlighted that the FHS solution would support SalamAir in improving dispatch reliability, reducing maintenance lead times, and optimizing aircraft availability. "This collaboration ensures that SalamAir’s fleet operates at peak performance, reinforcing our shared focus on safety, efficiency, and operational excellence," Muller noted.
This partnership not only strengthens SalamAir’s current fleet but also positions the airline for success as it prepares to receive additional aircraft in the years ahead. By aligning with Oman Vision 2040, SalamAir is taking a proactive approach to innovate, promote sustainability, and advance the national aviation and logistics sectors.
