flydubai has launched its inaugural service to Riga, with airport officials welcoming the first flight and marking a new direct air connection between the UAE and Latvia.
UAE Ambassador to Latvia Noora Juma said the new route signals a “new phase” in bilateral relations, helping to boost tourism, business activity and cultural exchange while strengthening wider economic ties.
flydubai’s Divisional Senior Vice President for Commercial Operations and E-commerce, Jeyhun Efendi, said the Riga service supports the airline’s strategy to improve connectivity to underserved European markets, alongside continued investment in its fleet, services and onboard products.
The Riga launch follows flydubai’s recent start of nonstop flights to Chișinău (Moldova), Iași (Romania) and Vilnius (Lithuania), expanding the carrier’s European network to 35 destinations across 20 countries.
RIX Riga Airport Chairperson Laila Odiņa said the new Dubai route strengthens connectivity at the Baltics’ largest airport, supports tourism and business links, and provides travellers with access to flydubai’s wider network—while opening the Baltic and Scandinavian region to more visitors from the UAE.
