SriLankan Airlines has officially moved its operations to Terminal 1 at Velana International Airport in Malé, with the transition taking effect on December 17, 2025. This significant development is aimed at enhancing passenger experience and supporting the growing tourism sector in the Maldives.
To mark the occasion, Maldives Airports Company Ltd (MACL) hosted a special ceremony for passengers arriving on flight UL101 and those departing on UL102 from Terminal 1. The event was graced by His Excellency Mohamed Rizvi Hassen, the Sri Lankan High Commissioner to the Maldives, who served as the Chief Guest, along with senior officials from MACL and SriLankan Airlines.
SriLankan Airlines operates three daily flights to Malé from its Colombo hub, offering passengers access to a global network of 117 destinations across 59 countries. With the new facilities at Terminal 1, the airline aims to provide passengers with a more comfortable, efficient travel experience, while simultaneously boosting tourism and strengthening connectivity between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
