Gulf Air, the national airline of Bahrain, is further bolstering its commitment to passenger and crew safety by expanding its partnership with MedAire, a leading provider of travel health and aviation security solutions under International SOS.
This collaboration introduces enhanced medical support services to Gulf Air's aviation security platform, marking a significant step towards improving in-flight safety and wellbeing as the airline continues to expand its global reach.
As part of this expanded agreement, Gulf Air will integrate four MedAire medical solutions into its operations: MedLink for in-flight medical emergencies, Passenger Fit-to-Fly screening, the Inflight App for real-time medical data collection, and Crew Support for assistance during layovers. These additions aim to provide seamless and immediate access to medical expertise, ensuring better health support for both passengers and crew members.
Captain Qassim AlBastaki, Gulf Air’s Chief Operations Officer, highlighted the importance of this move, stating, "This expanded partnership is key to reinforcing Gulf Air’s safety framework, offering continuous access to expert medical and security support as we broaden our international network. With the addition of more long-haul routes, the need for instant medical guidance has become essential to protect the health and safety of our passengers and staff."
MedAire’s Business Development Director for the Middle East & Asia, Reely Rajan, also underscored the significance of the collaboration, noting, "Gulf Air’s decision to expand our partnership reflects their dedication to maintaining the highest standards of health and safety.
By integrating MedAire’s medical expertise with Gulf Air’s existing security services, the airline now benefits from a unified platform that ensures comprehensive support, from pre-flight assessments to in-flight medical emergencies and crew wellbeing."
With flights to over 50 destinations across 28 countries worldwide, Gulf Air is steadily growing its international network. This includes its recent return to the United States, marking the airline's re-entry to the American market after nearly 30 years with direct flights between Bahrain and New York JFK, operating three times a week.
MedAire’s comprehensive medical services include access to MedLink physicians for real-time in-flight medical assistance, Fit-to-Fly assessments, digital tools for transmitting medical data from aircraft, and 24/7 crew support during layovers. These services ensure consistent and accessible medical support throughout Gulf Air's expanding global network.
