Etihad Airways has announced the launch of direct flights connecting Abu Dhabi with Luxembourg, marking a significant milestone as the first Middle Eastern airline to serve the Grand Duchy. Beginning 29 October 2026, the carrier will operate three weekly nonstop flights, becoming the only airline offering direct service between the two capitals.
The new route strengthens Etihad’s European network and responds to surging demand for seamless travel between the UAE and the Benelux region. It also underscores growing economic, cultural, and tourism links between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates.
Flights will be operated by Etihad’s advanced Airbus A321LR, featuring the airline’s acclaimed three-class configuration. The aircraft includes First Suites and fully flat Business Class seats, each with direct aisle access, offering premium comfort and privacy. The Economy Class cabin has been enhanced with generous legroom, 4K entertainment screens, Bluetooth audio pairing, and onboard high-speed Wi-Fi, delivering a modern, connected travel experience.
Etihad Airways Chief Executive Officer Antonoaldo Neves described the new route as a pivotal step in the airline’s network expansion strategy.
“This landmark service introduces Luxembourg to our growing European network and connects travellers directly to the heart of the Middle East,” said Neves. “The efficiency and range of the A321LR enable us to serve new markets with a truly premium onboard experience. More than a new route, this launch represents a bridge for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between two dynamic regions.”
Luxembourg’s central location makes it an ideal gateway for travellers from Belgium, France, and Germany, while Abu Dhabi offers visitors access to the UAE’s cultural landmarks and year-round sunshine. Leisure travellers can look forward to Abu Dhabi’s world-class attractions such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, Yas Island, and the upcoming Zayed National Museum and Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi.
Through Zayed International Airport, Etihad guests will also enjoy smooth onward connectivity across the airline’s extensive network, including destinations in Thailand, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, and India. Conversely, travellers from the UAE will gain direct access to Luxembourg, a scenic European destination known for its UNESCO-listed old town, medieval castles, and verdant countryside.
Tickets for the new route are now available on etihad.com.
