Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has signed a new cargo partnership with Indonesia’s flag carrier, Garuda Indonesia, aiming to improve air-freight options for Pakistani exporters and freight forwarders.
In a statement, PIA said the airlines have agreed to a Cargo Special Prorate Agreement (SPA), which is designed to create smoother cargo connections and widen access to international markets through coordinated routing and commercial terms.
The agreement is set to take effect in January 2026 and will run until July 2027. Under the arrangement, Pakistani export consignments will be transported to Jakarta and onward destinations via routings that include Jeddah and Kuala Lumpur, according to PIA.
PIA said the SPA will also strengthen connectivity to major cargo hubs including Sydney, Melbourne, Singapore, Hong Kong, and Bangkok, supporting more efficient distribution to wider markets—particularly in China, South Korea, and Australia.
The airline added that the deal includes competitive freight rates and priority handling for exporters and cargo agents, as PIA looks to streamline cargo operations and support export growth.
