Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, has announced plans to equip its entire fleet with Starlink high-speed internet starting mid-2026. The initiative will provide passengers with complimentary Wi-Fi throughout their journey, from boarding to arrival, enabling seamless streaming, gaming, working, and communication while in-flight.
The agreement was formalized at the Awal Private Terminal, where Gulf Air CEO Mr. Martin Gauss and Starlink Aviation Global Head Mr. Nick Seitz signed the partnership. Gulf Air Group Chairman Mr. Khalid Hussain Taqi, alongside senior government officials and prominent figures from the aviation industry, attended the signing ceremony.
“Implementing Starlink across our fleet underscores Gulf Air’s commitment to elevating the passenger experience,” said Mr. Taqi. “Advanced in-flight connectivity sets a new standard for what travelers can expect from the national carrier. It also aligns with Bahrain’s broader digital transformation initiatives and equips our cabin crew to deliver a superior, seamless service experience.”
Mr. Gauss added, “The introduction of Starlink marks a new era in in-flight connectivity for Gulf Air. Whether passengers are traveling for business or leisure, they will enjoy uninterrupted access to entertainment, work tools, and communication from the moment they board until arrival. This initiative enhances the overall travel experience and reaffirms our dedication to offering premium connectivity on every journey.”
Starlink, developed by SpaceX, leverages a rapidly expanding constellation of low-Earth orbit satellites to provide high-speed, low-latency internet. The system ensures reliable, real-time connectivity that benefits both passengers and airline operations.
The first Gulf Air A320 equipped with Starlink is expected to enter service by mid-2026, with fleet-wide installation planned subsequently. The rollout reflects Gulf Air’s strategic focus on operational excellence and positions Bahrain as a progressive aviation hub where technology and passenger experience define the future of air travel.
